Nativity: Native to Sonora and southern Arizona, with its northern range reaching into the foothills and canyons of southeast Arizona.
Ecology: Found on rocky slopes, desert foothills, and along washes; flowers are highly attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies.
Elevation: 2,500 – 5,000 ft
Size: 2–4 ft tall and wide
Flowering duration: March – November, peaking during the summer monsoon season
